Dracula

I have just finished the book Dracula by Bram Stoker. It was a great book and I really enjoyed it top to bottom. I would reccommend this book to anyone who likes a good adventure. It is very action packed and exciting. It does go through phasess where it gets kind of boring when Stoker has to explain a lot of the little details about Dracula. Other than that it was a great book. I would describe this book as being kind of dense in some parts and a kind of slow read. I n the middle there were several parts where i just couoldn't stay focused and i would have to put the book down for awhile and then come back to it. this is probably why I took so long to read it. Even though it was a slow read i still loved this book and wouldn't mind a bit if I could read it again right now. The vocabulary was challenging in some places and i would have to go and look up the defintitions while i was reading so that i would understand what was happening. i am a little disappointed in the ending of the book because it seemed that it just came to a quoick end after it had been leading up to that moment the entire book. i was really looking forward to the ending to see what would happen and who would win, and then all of a sudden it was over. it was kind of like he just ran out of time and had to come up with a quick ending. i wish he had gone into more detail about it and described it like he described all of the other things the main characters did.

Dracula

I am currently reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. I am almost done with the book and the chase is really heating up. The five main characters are getting ready to follow Dracula back to his mansion in Transylvania. For the most part this book is extremely exciting and interesting, but there have been parts lately that have been kind of boring and long winded. Contrary to my last blog about how Stoker doesn't include unnecessary information, he has begun to include extra information. He is trying to explain all of the smaller details about Dracula and vampires and i feel that he has included a lot of unneccessary information. it has really slowed down how fast i have been reading it because I will lose interest in the reading. Even though the going has been slow it is a great book. I really like the storyline of the book and all of the details. I like how Dracula has been trying to plan his invasion of England and then the world by using his boxes od dirt and putting them in strategic places. One part of the story that has been very confusing is the boxes of dirt because Stoker never really explains them or what they are until just now in the book, which is pretty close to the end. It turns out they were just boxes of sacred dirt that he could sleep in, but the way he described them at the beginning was that the boxes held other vampires that he had infected.

Dracula

I am currently reading Dracula by Bram Stoker. I have been really enjoying this book. i think part of the reason i like this book so much is the story line. Every time i pick up the book i can never put it down. On every page there is the possibility that something really exciting might happen and because of this i just cant stop reading every night. One thing i have noticed is that it is a very dense book. By this I mean that I could read it for half an hour and only get through several pages. I really like everything that has happened so far in this book. there haven't been any parts where it seemed that it was unnecessary. Everything is relevant to the story and has a purpose. Nothing is just there to take up space and have no meaning. His vocabulary is sometimes very confusing because he uses some very long words that i have never heard before. There is probably at least one word per page that i will have to stop and look up. It makes the reading go alot slower but it really helps me learn new words. Even when i do look up the words i spmetimes don't remember the defintion. Even with all of these confusing words I still love this book and I can't wait to finish it.

Dracula

I am currently reading Dracula, by Bram Stoker. I am really enjoying this book. I really like how Stoker writes it in the perspective of the characters. He does this by making all of it journal entries or letters to the other characters. this is really interesting because its easier for me to undersstand how they feel. It also gives you a feel for their personalities which is pretty cool. Sometimes it can get a little bit confusing because their are several peoples journal entries in a row and the setting skips around with the person who is writing. Another thing that can get kind of confusing, is the way he writes. Since Stoker is english he spells words differently and he wrote the book 100 years ago so the oder of the words is different. Another problem with the story being over 100 years old is, that some words had different meanings then they do now. An example of this is the word without. He uses it like the word outside. He will say something like; the wolves were without. Now we would say; the wolves are outside. The word without means that you are mising something, or without it, but not in this story. Ireally like the story line of the book. I like how it starts off in Dracula Castle and moves to London where there is plenty of food for Dracula. This is a great book and i just can't take my eyes off of it. I really love this book and I can't wait to get back to reading it.

Dracula

I am about to start Dracula, by Bram Stoker. I am really looking forward to reading this book because it is so popular. On an almost daily basis somebody will bring up Dracula, and there are several movies based on the book. All of the people that i know who have read the book have enjoyed it immensly. I have never read any other books by Bram Stoker, so i am interested to see how he writes. One of the reasons i am looking forward to this book is, that there isn't as much boring stuff as there is exciting stuff. I don't like to read books that have long periods of nothing happening. A book should be exciting and keep the reader engaged in the story. Whenever I read books with long boring parts i lose interest and i can never finish the book. Sometimes I will have to skip these spots, and i miss valuable information. This book is a classic and has not only been reccommended by my teacher, but both of my parents have wanted me to read it. i am also very interested in this book because I know who Dracula is and that he is a vampire, but other than that i know very few details. I am very interested in the details so that I will know what I am talking about whenever there is a conversation going on about Dracula. I have never read a vampire book before so i think it will be entertaining to read one and see how the vampies operate in different stories.

river of doubt

i just finished The River Of Doubt by candice millard. I really enjoyed this book. It started off kind of boring, but it really picked up once the men got on the river. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in adventures. This was one of the most exciting books that I have read. You never knew what was going to happen on the next page. I would start reading at night and tell myself to only read one chapter, but almost every time i reached the first chapter I couldn't stop reading more. Thhe men who went on the journey had no idea how dangerous it would soon become. When they set off they were completly unprepared for the journey they would be attempting. Several men lost their lives and many more could have. Every man was in danger every step he took. The farther they went the more they realized how dangerous their journey was. i am very glad that i read this book because my father and I do a lot of canoeing ourselves and I found this story extemely exciting. i have always been interested in Theodore Roosevelt and wanted to learn more about him. this story really revealed his inner personality because it showed what he was like under the toughest circumstances. At one point he had an infection in his leg, and he told his son that if he was slowing them down then they should just kill him. this just shows that he is an extremely strong, brave man.

the river of doubt

i am currently reading the river of doubt, by candice millard. this book is extremely exciting and in some places, even scary. millard does an excellent job of conveying the feelings of the members of the expedition. one way she does this is by writing quotes from the persons own journal. these are really helpful because they were written by the men themselves while they were traveling down the river. without these journal entries, it would be much harder to under stand the details of the participants exact feelings toward the trip and their fellow members. even without these short passages, it would not be terribly difficult to gain an understanding of the mens broad feelings and emotions concerning the expedition. the mens mood is quite sad and pessimistic. throughout the entire journey the men have gone through one hard experience after another. after their hard trek out to the river and the few days they have spent on it, the men are suffering from insect bites all over their bodies and several men are suffering from illness. almost all of the journal entries in this part of the book are about tragic events or how badly the trip is going. the mens entries are sad and have pessimistic views on what is going to happen to them. the men dont see how any good can come out of their situation, and it really shows in their journals.

The river of doubt

i am currently reading the river of doubt by candice millard. this book is about theodore roosevelt's expedition to south america. while in south america he sails down a river that feeds in to the amazon river. i am looking forward to reading this book because all i have heard about it is good things and it is about stuff that i find very interesting. i think that i will find it very intriguing because i have always been very interested in the amazon and exploration. i have already began reading it and i have not really been able to get in to it because it is still talking about politics and boring stuff. i have a gut instinct that it will get better as i get farther along because it will start to get more exciting. i think that i am getting close to the exciting parts because roosevelt is about to depart with his companions. he is going to go with a man named Father Zahm and a man named anthony fiala. Father zahm was in charge of setting up the trip. such as the route they would be taking through south america. anthony fiala was supposed to be in charge of getting together the supplies. he had lead an expedition to the artic earlier in his career. it was a total disaster and his team was stranded in the artic for 2 years.

the old man and the sea

i am currently reading the old man and the sea, by ernest hemingway. So far the old man has sailed out into the deeper water to fish for some big fish. He has gone 85 days without catching a single big fish, but he is staying optimistic. Finally he hooks a huge fish that drags him way out to see for over a day. I have just gotten to the point where the fish has begun to circle the boat and the old man is finally pulling him in. I have really enjoyed this book so far because it uses very simple language that the reader can really understand. He also uses language that an old man living in Cuba might use. It’s also really interesting when Ernest Hemingway throws in some Spanish words. I always like that because I can learn some new vocabulary in new languages. I have also been learning a lot about how he fishes, and the lifestyles of poor Cuban fishermen in the 1950’s. I really enjoy learning about the lifestyles of different people in different time periods. It is also a fun way of learning about that kind of thing when you are reading a cool interesting story. Ernest Hemingway does a really good job of getting you into the old mans mind and feeling what he is feeling. When the old man is being dragged out to sea by the huge fish, Hemingway gets into the old mans mind and tells you how relaxed the man is and what he is thinking about.

the old man and the sea

i am currently reading the old man and the sea, by ernest hemingway. so far this book has been very good and exciting. I really like it when an author writes a book that jumps right into the action and excitement. In this book, Hemingway jumps right in to the action. When an author jumps right on in to the action it really hooks the reader, and they just can’t put the book down. Last night when I was reading, I tried to put it down and go to sleep, but I couldn’t do it, and I picked it back up and started to read it again. I really like the way Ernest Hemingway writes this book. He uses a lot of descriptive word to put a good picture in the readers mind. When I read a book it has to be very descriptive because I really like it when I can see an image in my mind of what is happening. Hemingway does an excellent job of doing just that. When I was reading last night I could see the old man rowing his boat out to sea because of the great descriptive words he uses. I also enjoy reading a book where the author shows you what the main character is thinking. In this book, Hemingway writes a lot of paragraphs from the viewpoint of the old man and what he is thinking about as he fights this huge fish. It is always interesting to see what the characters are thinking.

the old man and the sea

i am about to read the old man in the sea, by ernest hemingway. i am really looking forward to reading this book. One of the reasons I really want to read this book is because I really like ernest hemingway. I have read several books by him and I have liked them all a whole lot. I really like the way he writes and would like to continue to read books by him. Another reason I want to read this book is because many people have recommended this book to me. My dad has read a lot of ernest hemingway’s books and he said this was his favorite one. I think that the books I have already read were great, so I want to see if this one is as good as the others. another reason I want to read this book is because I really enjoy reading about fish or fishing. I have done a decent amount of fishing in my life and I really love fish, so I find anything to do with fish very interesting. I find the plot of the old man and the sea very intriguing because I enjoy reading about just average guys trying to make a living. This book is about a poor fisherman and I think a story about that could be really interesting and I look forward to reading it. Right now I have very high expectations about this book because of all of the recommendations and compliments it has received.

Black Hawk Down

i have just finished the book, Black Hawk Down. this book has really changed my outlook towards the army and what happens to those soldiers when they are in the middle of a fight. mark bowden does a great job of making you understand the feelings of the soldiers and he rights it in a way that you can almost see what they are seeing. before i read this book i would read a war book and i would not really understand what they were feeling and how close they were to dying. after i read this book i cant read another war book the same because bowden did such a great job of describing it. he doesn't leave anything out. he describes the sights and smells of the city very well. another thing about his descriptions is how he never leaves anything out of the description. he will tell you what color the car that the soldiers are hiding behind and what color the houses around them are. he really gets into the minds of the soldiers and then does a great job translating into words for his readers to read. he gets you to feel scared when they are scared and sad when a man is shot. when you read the book you can't help but keep reading because it is so exciting. i strongly recomend this book to anyone who likes action and a gripping tale. you just can't put the book down once you start because of how exciting it is. he gets you hooked right away by jumping straight into the action instead of going on and on about stupid political stuff.

Black Hawk Down

i am currently reading Black Hawk Down. the way this book was written it makes you really feel the tension and the fear of the stranded American soldiers. the author uses many different strategies to engage the reader in the book. one of these strategies is to use descriptive words and really describe the situation to the reader. the author does a great job of really telling you what is happening and who it's happening to. when i read the book, i can really understand what the soldiers are feeling because i know what the situation is. another strategy he uses to pull you in is to tell stories about each of the soldiers so that you get to know who the guys are and understand them better. when you know the soldiers personalities you can really get a grip on their feelings in different kinds of situations. one of the ways he really gets you to know the soldiers is to tell funny stories about their relationships with each other and their personalities as a whole. this is a very imortant aspect of his writing because you really like these stories and you want to read about them more. i find this a very effective method because everytime i find one of the stories in the book it's like a little surprise that i greatly enjoy. i really like this writing style and i think it would be really cool if all non-fiction books were written like this, but alas, they are not.

Black Hawk Down

i am currently reading Black Hawk Down. so far i have read up to the point in which all of the rangers are finding places to hide in for the night. as the sun is setting all of the men try to group in one general area to raise their chances of survival. several of the Americans have already been killed and many of them are injured. none of the Somalians are as good of fighters as them, but they have many more people. this book has made me really think about war and the consequences of it. these men are stuck in a city surrounded by people who are trying to kill them and that just sends shivers down my spine. the author of this book did a great job writing this book in a way that really makes me feel like i am sitting with the soldiers there. it also really makes me realize how much danger those men are in and how scary it is to be fighting down there. the author does a good job of making you soak up the emotions of the men fighting and how they feel when they kill somebody or when one of their friends gets shot. this book really makes me not want to join the army so that i don't have to go through all of the things that these men had to go through and the pain of killing another person.

Black Hawk Down

i have just started the book Black Hawk Down. from what i have heard it is supposed to be a very intense but scary book. i am looking forward to reading it because many of my family members have recommended it to me and said it is a great book. i am not very far into the book, but i am already hooked. the book is about the largest sustained firefight involving American troops since the end of the Vietnam War. so far in my reading the American troops were dropped into Mogadishu without incident and captured their main objectives. the main objectives of the American troops was to capture a warlords two top guys. the Americans were immediately surprised by the amount of gun fire coming from the Somalis when they landed. as they set up a perimeter around the target building, they noticed that there were thousands of Somalis all around them and that there were just more coming. the only thing wrong up to this point is that one of the newer American soldiers fell off of the rope when he was coming down from the helicopter. when he fell he suffered major injuries to his head and back. all of the other American troops have remained unharmed to this point. the commanders, who are watching back at their headquarters, think everything is going according to plan. they are watching on cameras and hoping that everything will go smoothly.

A Farewell to Arms

i just finished the book A Farewell to Arms and i thought it was an excellent book. i chose this book because my dad really enjoys reading Ernest Hemingway and he wanted me to read some books by him. previously, i had read The Old Man and The Sea and thought it was a great book. after i read that book i became very interested in Hemingway and wanted to read more from him. this is only the second book that i have read written by Hemingway, but i plan to read more books by him. i also chose to read this book because it was set during world war 1 and i am very interested that. i really liked how he wrote thee story in the first person because it made me feel much more involved in the story and made me feel like i had done those things. it was also very neat how he based the character on himself when he was young. in the story, the main character was an American who was an ambulance driver for the Italians in World War 1. the real Ernest Hemingway was also an ambulance driver for the Italians in World War 1. i really like how he did that because it makes the story much more realistic because it was written by somebody who has experienced those things. i would recommend this book because it is really well written and very entertaining.
